Retail giants make a beeline to outsource Indian jewellery

Leading retailer such as Wal-Mart, JC Penney, Zail and Signity eye on Indian market to source jewelry.
Traditionally however, jewelry made in India has always attracted western enthusiasts for centuries. It is only the current scenario that major retailers have begun to source it directly from Indian manufacturers.
Indian have made a mark not only in traditional designs of diamonds and colored precious, but also in latest designs like Bling jewelry mostly demanded by Hispanics and African Americans.
Wal-Mart was the first to approach Gems and Jewelry Export Promotion Council three years back to begin outsourcing from here.
Most of the US retailers get majority of their manufacturing done in Thailand as it was perceived that Indian manufacturers did not have qualified manpower within the sector.
