Tesco Supermarket to sell contact lenses in-Store, by phone & online

UK based b2b retailer Tesco is going to plan on contact lens market.
Supermarket becomes the first national pharmacy to sell contact lenses in-Store, by phone and online.
Shoppers will soon be able to get their contact lenses for less as Tesco becomes the first national pharmacy to sell them.
Acting on changes to the law which come into force next week, Tesco will make it easier for customers to buy their lenses cheaply and more conveniently without having to make a special trip to the optician.
Savings on top brands will be as much as 60% against other retailers.
Under the amended law opticians are now required to supply customers with a contact lens specification at the end of a consultation so that they can shop around for their lenses.
And Tesco is making it easier than ever to buy – by providing an online and phone ordering service as well as selling lenses in its in-store opticians and pharmacies.
Announcing the move alongside its first quarter trading statement and ahead of the company's AGM, Tesco Chief Executive, Sir Terry Leahy said:
“Customers tell us that they would be far more likely to try contact lenses if they cost less and were more convenient to buy.
“By using our experienced pharmacists and our proven ability as an online retailer we can make contact lenses cheaper and more accessible, offering customers top brands at half the price of other retailers.”
“Not only that, they can choose how they want to buy them.
