Beginning with the 23rd Japan Fashion Week Tokyo, Amazon Fashion will be the new title sponsor of Tokyo Fashion Week, which will now be renamed as Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo.

“We are committed to making Amazon Fashion an online destination for fashion and accessories and this initiative, demonstrates our continued support of the industry, Jasper Cheung, Amazon Japan president said.

James Peters, Amazon Fashion vice president added, “By sponsoring Tokyo Fashion Week, we look forward to continue supporting Japan-based designers to showcase their collections.”

“Part of delivering on our promise for great selection is through fostering new designers, including giving them the opportunity to take advantage of Amazon's marketplace,” Peters stated.

Masahiko Miyake, chairman of Japan Fashion Week Organisation (JFWO) too said, “Amazon is becoming more essential as a channel for the fashion industry, not only for ecommerce, but also for awareness.”

“This partnership will give us the opportunity to elevate Japanese fashion and share the creations of Japanese designers, especially emerging ones, to a global audience,” Miyake informed.

Amazon's partnership with fashion shows began with sponsorship of the Met Gala in 2012 and continues with the title sponsorship of New York Fashion Week: Men's.

It also created the Amazon Fashion Studio Sessions, a student competition to nurture emerging creative talent and the opening of two photo studios in New York and London. (AR)
