British designer Kim Jones will quit Louis Vuitton. His fall 2018 collection in Paris on 18 January was his last show for the brand. Jones has been men’s artistic director of Vuitton’s flagship brand LVMH Moët Hennessy since 2011. Vuitton, which described Jones as “the driving force” behind some of its most successful projects, is yet to reveal his successor.

In an Instagram post, Jones thanked his team and collaborators. Fashion media outlets in Europe speculated over Versace planning to bring Jones on board and he being a contender for Burberry, which is seeking a successor to Christopher Bailey, who will quit the British brand in March.

Jones has no design experience in women’s wear or couture, and his own men’s wear label, known for its sporty, streetwear edge, lasted for eight seasons and attracted the attention of Dunhill, where he was creative director from 2008 to 2011. He is accepted for his hold over both the luxury and streetwear worlds.

Jones has also worked for Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Hugo Boss and Umbro. (DS)
