Duchess of Cambridge Catherine and Countess of Wessex Sophie will team up on behalf of the queen of the United Kingdom to host a Commonwealth Fashion Exchange Reception at Buckingham Palace this month as part of the lead-up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. The reception will be held during the London Fashion Week to boost cross-country ties.
Soft diplomacy will be on show this year as the ties of the Commonwealth are a key passion of the queen, who took the organisation’s membership from seven to 52, according to a report in the British daily The Telegraph.
The fashion reception, on February 19, is part of an extensive programme of events surrounding the CHOGM meeting.

Famous designers like Stella McCartney, Bibi Russell and Karen Walker along with artisan producers in developing countries will participate in the show.
"The initiative uses fashion as a common language and platform to help people understand the modern Commonwealth in a different way," the Telegraph report quoted a Palace spokesman as saying. (DS)
