Denimsandjeans Dhaka to again host fashion contest

The organiser of the fifth edition Denimsandjeans Dhaka, which runs from March 2-3, 2016, has once again arranged a fashion contest for graduating fashion designers of various fashion institutes.

The theme for the fifth edition is however different as the garments designed by these graduates would be worn by models in a fashion show titled – Fashionim.

At the October 2015 edition of Denimsandjeans, for the first time, students of Bangladesh fashion universities were involved in a contest related to denim products.

“Graduate fashion designers of three universities BUFT, SMUCT and NIFT participated in the contest to bring out innovative designs in denim,” a press release said.

“The students had less than a month to prepare for the contest and they worked overtime to bring out some innovative designs,” the organiser added.

The best designs were selected after an extensive voting by all the visitors and exhibitors and the designs which got the highest votes were awarded the first three places at the contest.

This competition was organised and guided by Anna Troupe, a sustainable design lecturer and social entrepreneur based in Dhaka. (AR)
