The French fashion designer Roland Mouret opened the third day of ongoing Paris Fashion Week with his latest Spring/Summer 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

Replete with feminine form-flattering silhouettes combined with cutouts and nipped and tucked in detailing at the right places to accentuate curves, the line was made using fluid honeycomb silk and structured waffle cotton. Based in shades of white, green, yellow, pink, purple and orange, the standouts were short voluminous skirts, fitted origami fold and sculpted panel incorporated cropped blouses, colourblock numbers with stiff collars, fringed bouclé tops, pencil skirts and floral patterned rompers.

Fashion house Carven, under the guidance of its French creative director Guillaume Henry, showcased Formula One racing inspired collection adorned with Japanese inspired prints and embroidery. Mixed with late 1960s and early 1970s vibes, the range was made using jacquard and honeycomb stitch cotton fabrics. Enhanced with prints of python, Asian characters, racing stripes and graphic flowers, the line showed crepe A-line hemmed mini dresses with small shoulders, sharp lapelled leather duster coats, poppy red and cobalt blue swingy suede jackets, zippered dresses with high necks, belted flared jackets with graphic inserts and tapered cream coloured crepe trousers.

Manish Arora, the Indian fashion designer of international repute, presented a sci-fi themed collection decorated with quirky embellishments and prints. The range included a sheer gauze dress printed with an image of the Hindu deity Kali, skin-tight iridescent bike shorts, sequined caps, giant neon 3-D eye emblazoned bra tops, harem style pants with zippered front pockets and rose motif collarless jackets.

The American fashion designer Rick Owens highlighted a very ethereal, soft romantic and tulle heavy collection accented with A-lines and inflated and voluminous shapes. The highlights were padded waistcoats, architectural panelled dresses with honeycomb front detailing, sheer sheaths and baggy shorts. (PB)
