The French designer Alexandre Vauthier is the latest to receive the official appellation of an haute couture house by the exclusive French fashion club Commission de Classement Couture Creation.

The designer with his newly gained membership of the Chambre Syndicale de la haute couture will now join the prestigious list of other leading fashion houses with haute couture appellations such as Chanel, Azzedine Alaïa, Givenchy, Stephane Rolland and Christian Dior.

The designer, who has dressed the likes of Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora, Kate Bosworth and Heidi Klum, will now showcase as a permanent couturier at the forthcoming January, 2015 edition of the Parisian haute couture week.

The Haute Couture status directs the designers to adhere to some strict standards, such as each designer must offer made-to-order ensembles for private clients, employ minimum 15 workers in a Parisian atelier and present a collection in January and July schedules of haute couture fashion weeks every year.

The French fashion industry governing body Chambre Syndicale de la haute couture is the regulating commission which determines the eligibility of fashion houses that are fit to be true haute couture labels.

Before establishing his eponymous label in 2009, Alexandre Vauthier has worked for eight years with Jean Paul Gaultier and three years with Thierry Mugler. (PB)
