As its partnership with Charlotte Casiraghi enters its second year, Gucci is pleased to announce the debut of its second equestrian collection designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini exclusively for Ms. Casiraghi.

Carrying forward the spirit of the previous season, the wardrobe includes highly technical clothing and accessories for show jumping and training. Gucci continues to deepen its relationship with the equestrian world in the year that sees the House celebrate its 90th anniversary and a heritage long characterized by the glamour of horse riding.

“Charlotte and her passion for show jumping bring the spirit of Gucci to life so elegantly. Our collaboration on the design of this new wardrobe was once again guided by the need for items to be both technically correct and stylish. The creativity and research behind this new wardrobe are a testament to the Gucci legacy of tradition and innovation,” said Giannini.

The fil rouge of the new collection is the rosette icon from the Gucci archives, which Giannini has reinterpreted across all elements. The motif originated as a broach during the 1980s when Gucci collaborated with the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) to sponsor the Gucci Trophy for the best international horse-riding professionals. Before entering the archives, the rosette also gained popularity as a foulard. For her reinterpretation, Giannini has inscribed the symbol with Ms. Casiraghi's initials, C.C., and applied it to the blazers, polos, buttons, saddle pads, rugs, fly veils, and blankets, as well as creating a one of a kind broach.

Charlotte Casiraghi commented, “I loved riding in the collection that Frida designed for me last year and I love this new wardrobe even more. It's the best of sport and style.”

True to the tones of the new rosette, navy blue, red and white contrast in a bold color palette in a variety of technical materials. All textiles have been carefully selected to ensure resistance, elasticity, and performance for spring summer climates: cotton for knitwear, lightweight nylon for outerwear, and waterproof fabrics for blankets and accessories. Accents of chocolate-colored leather enrich the collection with riding boots and detailing on outerwear and accessories.

Signature elements from Gucci's storied past complete the personalization for Ms. Casiraghi. The iconic web stripe, inspired by a girth strap needed to hold saddles in place and originally created in its green-red-green design in the 1950s, appears in a blue-red-blue variant in a range of proportions. In keeping with its original use on luggage in the 1930s, the Diamante pattern characterizes the backpack and bag in a criss-crossing navy blue design. The signature horsebit serves as hardware on the buckle of a new belt.

Charlotte Casiraghi will be sporting her new Gucci riding wardrobe throughout the 2011 Global Champions Tour with upcoming stops in Estoril, Chantilly, Valkenswaard, Rio de Janeiro, and Abu Dhabi.
