KikoRomeo displays Bravery of Kenya to AFWNY

Adirée, is pleased to announced that KikoRomeo will showcase Thursday July 14th at Africa Fashion Week New York. AFWNY is set to take place on July 14th, 15th and 16th at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City's financial district.
The award winning KikoRomeo brand makes and retails contemporary African fashion for men, women & children. The brand incorporates handcraft by artists and community groups in Kenya. Ann McCreath, head designer and founder, is not the only one drawing inspiration from Kenya. Louis Vuitton's menswear spring/summer 2012 features patterns influenced by the Massai warriors of Kenya.
McCreath launched this fashion house under the name KikoRomeo meaning Adam's apple in Kiswahili (Swahili), a common language in Kenya, also spoken by the Massai.
“I have always loved the bright colours and vibrant patterns of African textiles and crafts. I want to incorporate these into a fashion image, which is individualistic and unique.” – McCreath, founder of KikoRomeo.
Scottish born Ann McCreath completed fashion design studies in Rome, and for years, she worked as a designer in Barcelona, took a three-month break doing aid work in Kenya. Finding it fascinating, she stayed on for 3 years, before deciding to go back to her profession and do trade instead of aid. McCreath started the brand wanting Kenyans to take pride in African-inspired contemporary fashion, and promote their economy through buying locally made fashion.
