Debenhams ex CEO Rob Templeman has been appointed the new Chairman of Graduate Fashion Week, following Terry Mansfield's decision to step down after seven years. He will begin his new role on November 17th 2011.

Graduate Fashion Week Founder and President Jeff Banks CBE commented, "The trustees and I would like to extend a huge thank you to Terry for his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm during the seven years he has spent as the Chairman of GFW.

He has done a fantastic job ensuring the on-going success of the event. Having done the job myself for the prior 14 years, I know how demanding it is and we are extremely grateful to Terry for giving his time and leading the event into a new era. We wish him every success for the future.

“I am personally delighted that Rob Templeman has agreed to take up the mantle of Chairman. He will be working closely with the GFW trustees to drive the event forward into its 21st year in 2012 and beyond. Rob is well known within the fashion industry and I am sure he will be able to encourage more of his industry colleagues to support GFW in a variety of ways.”

Rob Templeman commented, "I am delighted to be asked to join Graduate Fashion Week as Chairman and to be in a position to devote time and energy into helping new young talent showcase their designs to the wider fashion community. I am really looking forward to working alongside the team at Graduate Fashion Week, it is also a great opportunity for me to be able to contribute something back to the fashion industry which I have been so involved with".

Terry Mansfield CBE commented, “It has been a privilege to be the Chairman of Graduate Fashion Week for the past 7 years. It really has been the most incredible journey and I have had the opportunity to work with the very best new talent, the best UK Universities and fashion educationalists – the people who shape tomorrow's world!“

“We produce exceptional talent in the UK and I know that Rob Templeman the new Chairman who is succeeding me will do a great job - he is so well known in the fashion industry and around the world.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity of thanking my company the Hearst Corporation, which has supported me in every way including financially because within our group we have always taken fashion seriously, especially new talent.”
