Howard University Homecoming Fashion Show in October

Queen Grace, a high-fashion company designing exclusively for contemporary full-figured women, is participating in the 2011 Howard University Homecoming Fashion Show in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 19.
Each year, more than 100,000 alumni, students, faculty and community members celebrate the university's rich history and pay homage to the legacy of the institution during the school's homecoming festivities. The annual fashion show, which gives 10 to 15 designers the opportunity to showcase their collections in front of an estimated crowd of 3,000, has welcomed designers such as Betsy Johnson, Tommy Hilfiger and Mychael Knight, a finalist of "Project Runway" season three.
"We are honored to participate in the fashion show and join such an elite group of designers that have honored the tradition of this legendary school," said Marina Zelner, founder of Queen Grace Collection.
The show's theme, "Empressions: Dreaming of a New Dawn," is inspired by the Emperor's New Clothes story and presents new and innovative fashions from designers throughout the U.S. The event is designed to captivate the heart, mind, ears and eyes with the beauty of the garments, storyline and exquisite musical selections.
"We are planning a show sure to be remembered; however, this could not be a success without the support of notable designers such as Queen Grace," said fashion show coordinator DaMarkis Brown.
The show will feature approximately 20 looks from the 2011 Queen Grace Fall Collection, offering a variety of sophisticated looks and timeless fashions that are fresh, innovative, elegant, sensual and affordable. Every garment -- from current trends to timeless, classic profiles -- is made from quality, comfortable material tailored to flatter the curvy female form.
"Every piece is about celebrating the strength and beauty of a full-figured woman, so we are thrilled to give students the opportunity to walk the runway," said Zelner.
Queen Grace was launched by Zelner in 2010 and showcased its debut collection at 2011 Full Figured Fashion Week in New York City. Zelner and the Queen Grace team have created a buzz in the fashion industry for its full range of day-to-evening looks and styles, all made with the most exquisite, comfortable fabrics.
