The Spring 2012 Los Angeles Fashion Market took place October 17-20, 2011 at the California Market Center(CMC) with an abundance of new resources and new business. Permanent showrooms reported seeing brisk, steady traffic throughout the Market and opening numerous new accounts. Bright outlooks and new business were also predominant among SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow, TRANSIT Shoe Show, and FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Tradeshow. The Market featured thousands of resources and an assortment of special buyer events, including a visual merchandising seminar, Opening Night Reception, AREA 4 Launch Party, F2 Runway Show, as well as many complimentary beauty amenities and hospitality features.

“Market has been excellent. We have seen many buyers each day, including locals and Canadians” said Liza Stewart of the Liza Stewart Inc., suite B535 on our Contemporary floor. “We have remained extremely busy throughout the Market.”

John Meyer, owner of Matty M and Willow & Clay in suite B591, also reported a great Market, saying: “The Show has been really good. We have seen a lot of enthusiasm and excitement from buyers this season.”

Key stores seen this Market included Lord & Taylor, LF Stores, Kitson, Nordstrom, Fred Segal, M Fredric, Madison, The Blue Jeans Bar, Roxy, Zappos, Ideeli, Burlington Coat Factory, Bebe, Bella James, Nasty Gal, Lola Rogue, The Red Balloon, Hyatt Regency, MGM Grand, C'est la Vie, Lesters, Modcloth, A Pea In The Pod, House of Denim, Moonbeams, Ma Belle, Pete's Sportswear, Lulu's and Camellia Boutique, to name a few.

Young Contemporary brand Blue Bird debuted its new showroom at the CMC this Market, reporting: “Our debut at this Market has been fantastic. We have met many new accounts, and being in the California Market Center is helping us solidify these new relationships. Fifty percent of the customers we have seen this week have been new to us,” said Sarah Kang of Blue Bird Showroom, suite B585.

The Los Angeles Kids Market, featured on the CMC's Kids On 6 floor, was abuzz with enthusiastic buyers and press. “I love the resources and flow of the Kids floor,” said DeBalino, fashion blogger and baby stylist of. “The energy was great and this was a perfect Market.”

Sold out of exhibit space this season, SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow was featured in the CMC's Fashion Theater, Main Lobby, Monday-Wednesday, and presented many new exhibitors, as well as returning lines, including Sam Edelman, ADAM by Adam Lippes, Deepa Gurnani, Mellie J Showroom, Merci Marie, Tina Huang, Royal Plush, Magaschoni, and many more.

“We have done exceptionally well this show, said returning exhibitor Lisa Mitchell of Sam Edelman. “Participating in SELECT gives us the opportunity to meet and interact with West Coast stores.”

Merci Borden of Merci Marie added: “We have had a lot of foot traffic this Show, which is great because we want to build our brand identity here on the West Coast. We participate in shows all over the country and SELECT is always a great show for us.”
