18 – 20 January saw the Igedo Company launch THE GALLERY BERLIN, a platform featured for the first time in the fashion location of Berlin. At the fully booked >Moskau< venue the international trade show presented a discerning range of avant-garde fashion, designer collections and accessories.

The new format went down well with the retail trade: some 2,000 visitors came to the successful premiere featuring just under 70 womenswear collections for the 2012/13 Autumn/Winter season. Major German department stores like KaDeWe, Peek & Cloppenburg and Jacobi Köln featured amongst visitors here alongside numerous international specialist retailers.

Philipp Kronen, Managing Partner at Igedo Company, drew a positive conclusion: “It was definitely the right decision to go to Berlin! We called this format into being for our exhibitors because this is where they can meet the right visitors. As a result, exactly those buyers attended who are important for this segment and our clientele. In summer, too, we will feature with our fair at the >Moskau< venue. This location means we are perfectly geared up to current needs.”

“We are very satisfied with the way our kick-off event turned out,” adds Elke Sautter, Project Manager at THE GALLERY BERLIN. “Exhibitors were not only able to foster new links but also meet their customers already at this early kick-off stage to the season. Buyers are now in positive spirits and perfectly geared up for the forthcoming orders phase in Düsseldorf. At this location on the Spree our exhibitors generated the media coverage they needed. Further business will now be generated on the Rhine.”

Exhibitors confirm the Igedo Company is adopting the right path with its new trade fair concept. This was also reiterated by designer Annette Görtz: “We are delighted and have also signed up new customers – which is very important. This was also the reason we sought more public exposure this time. Those retailers coming to our showrooms are just the ones we invite anyway.

To my mind the special feature here is that it brings together the right group of exhibitors. This also attracts international retailers. We also had American, Canadians and Eastern Europeans at our stand. We have already confirmed our participation in summer.”

Fashion designer Silvia Heise is also pleased with the positive results at the fair: “The location is wonderful, it is the ideal size and there is parking right on the doorstep! I find the mood very, very pleasant. We are delighted to see new and regular customers visiting us here again. As our immediate competitors exhibit here we are able to target the right buyers directly. This concentration is ideal. We are sure to be back in July!”

The >Moskau< venue not only offers light-flooded exhibition space but also suitable premises for events and fashion shows. At the trendy nightclub within the location Beate Heymann presented Streetcouture – her current collection for the coming Autumn/Winter season – at a fashion show on the first day of the fair to an audience of over 50 invited buyers.
