Fiona Clements, a graduate from the Otago Polytechnic holding Bachelor of Design (Fashion), has earned national recognition y carefully putting together her collection made using fabric off-cuts sourced from the Dunedin clothing stores.

Based on her Chimerical Conundra collection, Fiona has been chosen as a finalist in the Miromoda Fashion Design Awards in Wellington.

Fiona had previously shown her sustainable designs at the iD Dunedin Fashion Show, where she had been successful in impressing established fashion designers like Charmaine Reveley and Margi Robertson.

The young designer hopes the new recognition will further inspire designers and consumers to create and buy sustainable costumes.

Fiona’s collection of apparels will be featured in a catwalk show at the Miromoda contest on June 22, 2012.
