Mod'Art Delhi presents apparel from non-traditional items

Mod’Art International Institute of Fashion Design & Management presents an eye catchy Exhibition of the apparels inspired from Non-traditional items like plastic, paper, jute, rubber and much more from 19th to 21st July 2012 at their institute in East of Kailash.

Started in 2010 as an annual inter-school design contest, A La Mode give students a display place to exemplify their creativity. This year’s competition provided a perfect stage to the burgeoning designers of more than 30 schools across Delhi & NCR to participate and present their thoughts & experiments which were very much out of the ordinary.

Talking about the contest, Smriti Tuli Jha, Center Head, Mod’Art Delhi said, “A La Mode received tremendous response from students between age group of 12-18 years who came up with brilliant designs and dresses. I am so amazed to see the degree of ingenuity in today’s youth when it comes to Fashion and expression.”

The exposition highlights the aptitude of the students who revamped old worn out garments using paints, beads, scraps, bottle cans, pencils, pins and other non-traditional materials and created a totally new look pertaining to their talented vision.

Vidushi Agarwal of Modern School, Vasant Vihar won the contest for her asymmetrical one-off-shoulder garment embellished with pencils at the waist and ribbons at bottom depicting colors in nature. The first Runner Up position was bagged by Nilanjana from The Heritage School who used old newspaper & fibre bags for her design, followed by Jassica Sethi & Suhasini Jain of G.D Goenka School who stood Second Runner Up for their creation made up of plastic waste bag, cable wires, and stones of orange color.

Commenting on the occasion, Himanshu Singhal, Director, Mod’Art Delhi, said, “The exhibition is one of our initiatives to provide a platform to today’s fashion enthusiasts to display their skills. And I must say that I am astonished to see their artistic vision & zeal to create out of the box apparels. I congratulate all the students who have participated in A La Mode and wish them all the luck for their progressive future.”

Total entries recorded this year were 350 of which around 100 captivating creations are being showcased in the three-day-long Exhibition.
