Designer Debarun displays 'Omnipresent' line at LFW A/W 12

There are inspirations and there is the overwhelming feeling of being. This collection is an overwhelming feeling and not so much of an inspiration. There is a point in time in everyone's life when you feel the presence of the omnipresent.

This is my attempt at expressing my feelings at that juncture of realization. It is not my attempt to define the feeling for the feeling cannot be defined. Many great artists have tried in the past only to dabble in brilliance but remain far away from the magnificence of the almighty. It is my humble endeavour through my creative medium to pay my reverence to his omnipresence in our lives.

Color Palette / Silhouette

The colour blue runs through my collection as a reminder of the presence of the almighty in all things around us. Beige and black are base colours that symbolize depth.

The inspiration of the surface texturing and embellishments come from iznik tiles of turkey. Turkish ceramics has this distinct colour of cobalt-blue and the serene presence of divinity. This divinity has i been brought to life with prints and embroidery. I chose the rich hand woven fabrics of Bhagalpur.  Tassar, matka, katan and monga are the other fabrics used in the collection keeping it as close to natural as I possibly could. The whole collection keeps in mind the festive – winter feel for upcoming season of festivity, marriages and occasion.

The silhouette’s   are fusion Indian, flared and layered skirts, dhoti inspired skirt, high collared tops, pleated pants, sarees for women. Men’s wear has this long Indian sherwani look, with flair, semi transparent shirt kurta with draw string pants. The look is layered  with prints, embellishments and accessories.
