Mid-west US' premier fashion event kick-starts in Omaha

The Omaha Fashion Week, which provides a professional platform to showcase the varied creations of regional independent fashion designers on a bi-annual basis, has kick started in Omaha, the largest city in the mid-western US state of Nebraska.

The premier six-day-long fashion extravaganza would showcase this year’s Spring/Summer collections. Around 350 creations worn by over 100 models are expected to be displayed at the event. The glitzy soiree would witness a variety of day, evening and children’s wear, as well as bridal couture and swimwear collections.

Around 39 designers, including Amanda Clark, Joi Joison, Terri Jen Buckner, JLynn Hausmann and Audra McAvaddy, are going to present their myriad clothing lines at a series of glamorous red carpet events. Some of these designers use vintage fabrics or sustainably-produced fabrics in their creations.

Fashion designer Audra McAvaddy, who is a firm believer of reinventing vintage fashion styles and fabrics, would showcase her line of quirky creations that look like crazy quilts, rompers, high-waist pants and shirts. JLynn Hausmann will feature her denim line, which includes both jeans and evening wear.

Started in 2008, Omaha Fashion Week has become the largest fashion event in mid-west US, which surpasses Minneapolis, Denver, Kansas City and St. Louis in terms of audience size and the number of independent designers who participate.

Apart from fashion designers, the event also attracts participation of apparel buyers and manufacturers.
