For the third year running the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) is taking over 300 designers to Paris Fashion Week, with a record 30% of these being new and emerging designers exhibiting in Paris for the first time. With 17 major exhibition locations and over 30 agent and individual showrooms all over Paris, UKFT’s Brits in Paris Map (28 September 2012 - 1 October 2012).

As the key event for international womenswear buyers and press, Paris Fashion Week is the launch pad of choice for UK designers wanting to grow their UK and international business. The UK is now the largest national group at Paris Fashion Week and this is the largest group of UK designers to show in one city at the same time.

New designers showing this year include handbag designer FeatherM and past Fashion Fringe winner Fyodor Golan showing at Tranoï. This year’s Fashion Fringe winner Haizhen Wang will be showing at Zip Zone. They will show alongside regular exhibitors including Jenny Packham, Lulu Guinness, Orla Kiely and celebrity brand Project D by Dannii Minogue.

UKFT Director of International Affairs Paul Alger said: “In the current climate, it might be reasonable to expect new businesses to be nervous about investing in international shows. However, we have been really encouraged by the number of emerging brands coming to Paris because they know that it is still a key place to meet international buyers who have a huge appetite for British brands.”

He added: “It is a key part of UKFT’s mission to help designers and manufacturers to show at the right show for their collections and to support them when they are there. We are proud to be helping the next generation of British companies to show alongside the more established companies we have grown up with over the years.

“This group is a major UK success story. Grant support from UK Trade and Investment, who also support the Brits in Paris Map, has helped to build up a major UK presence at this event, which is unique in the world.”
