With less than 10 days to hit the box office, ‘English Vinglish’ has already garnered media attention. Portraying an elegant and confident look in the movie, the movie’s protagonist Sridevi has been spotted carrying two Hidesign bags – The Estelle and The Arno - throughout the movie.

‘English Vinglish’ is the story of a woman who does not know English and is made to feel insecure by her family and society at large. The film is a light -hearted yet touching and transformational journey of Shashi.  Circumstances make her determined to overcome this insecurity, master the language and teach the world a lesson on the way to becoming a self assured and confident woman. A Hidesign woman has the same principles as Sridevi’s character in the film i.e., independence and a liberal global mindset- strong, confident, adaptable, and does not let obstacles deter her.

English Vinglish has been shot mostly in New York and captures the inherent struggle of many people all over the world with the English Language.

Below is a quote from Sridevi about her accessory of choice in the movie.

Sridevi says, "English Vinglish is about a woman who finds her confidence through various events in her life and learns to adapt to situations. She is a self-empowered woman. A woman's bag largely defines her personality and style. We are proud to have Hidesign as our partner of choice."

Sridevi's character in the film, "Shashi", is a homemaker who has a small business of her own. Her styling involves comfortable cotton saris and everyday jewelry and accessories. She looks beautiful, yet realistic. Hidesign fits perfectly with Shashi's styling requirements - smart yet simple, stylish yet functional.

Also, like most Indian women, Shashi would need to have two hand bags - one for everyday use, with lots of compartments, something she could team with anything she wore. The other is one for more formal occasions- more stylish, yet able to carry all her essentials. Keeping all of this in mind, Sabyasachi was able to meet Shashi's styling needs at Hidesign.

Hidesign bags have lately been spotted in several Bollywood movies. A Hidesign bag has been spotted frequently on the arm of the female protagonist of the film, such as the resilient, focused Vidya Balan in ‘No one killed Jessica’ and the intriguing straightforward character of Jessie played by Amy Jackson in ‘Ek Tha Deewana’.
