Fashion Fringe Accessories 2012 is now open for applications. With selection led and Chaired by Bruno Frisoni, Creative Director of Roger Vivier, legendary French Accessories company famed for elegance and glamour, the winner will be given the chance to work at the headquarters in Paris for six months. Frisoni will also welcome input from Selection Panel members, Susannah Frankel (Grazia), Helen David (Harrods) and Sue Saunders (London College of Fashion) in deciding the final winner.

Fashion Fringe, the project co-founded in 2003 by Colin McDowell and IMG Fashion, finds, nurtures and supports emerging fashion design talent. The Accessories platform of Fashion Fringe runs alongside the main platform and offers accessory designers the chance to gain support, industry recognition and mentoring from industry greats.

2012 will see a fourth budding accessories designer to benefit from the scheme. Past winners have included Liam Fahy, Helen Robotham and Kerrie Luft, all of whom have gone on to establish successful careers in the fashion industry.

Fashion Fringe Accessories is open for applications until the 30th November and details of how to enter can be found at www.fashionfringe.co.uk/accessories2012. No formal training is needed to be eligible to take part in the accessories platform, as the initiative aims to find and support new accessories design talent with a once in a lifetime opportunity of an apprenticeship at Roger Vivier.

The program has been designed to provide the winner with intensive exposure to all aspects of the luxury accessory business from design and development, sales and sourcing, to dealing with the press and wholesale account management.

Bruno Frisoni, Creative Director, Roger Vivier, said: ‘I was lucky to be able to follow my dream – I believe that without fantasy we have nothing.  Fashion and Design can be very closed worlds and so it is a privilege for me through Fashion Fringe Accessories to help open a door, to offer a pass.  This competition encourages our next generation of young designers to create their own visions with confidence and conviction and with the support of Fashion Fringe Accessories these may become a unique reality.’

Colin McDowell said, ‘I love this scheme because it not only encourages young talent, as the main Fashion Fringe platform does, but (as it is an apprenticeship) it modernises something that has been the bedrock of craftsmanship since Medieval times: the tyro sitting next to the maestro and learning the craft absolutely at first hand. It doesn't get any better than that, surely?’

Fashion Fringe is proud to have the continued sponsorship of the following Partners: DHL, American Express, ShopStyle, Davenport Lyons and Metro – with additional support from The Mayor of London.  Fashion Fringe is an IMG event.
