Veteran American designer Betsey Johnson to skip NYFW

Betsey Johnson, the American designer known for her whimsical and outlandish fashion creations, will not showcase at the upcoming bi-annual hi-profile fashion saga New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

An official statement confirmed the news and added that the 70-year-old veteran is presently busy creating her new collection comprised of a line of dresses suitable for all ages and budgets.

Other than designing her new collection, the exuberant designer, who also is a cancer survivor, is working on her debut reality programme titled 'The Betsey and Lulu Show', scheduled to be aired on Style Network, with her daughter Lulu Johnson.

Famous for her over-the-top designs, the sartorialist specializes in lingerie, outerwear and swimwear collections. In 2012, she voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
