French Lingerie expo reaches New York

Offering a retrospective look back into the 100 years of evolution of creativity and luxury of French intimate wears, ‘Lingerie Française’ - the travelling exhibition showcasing French lingerie is currently on in New York City.
 
Backed by Pomincor, the French association of lingerie, the expo aims to offer a glimpse at the cultural significance of French innergarments and their journey and style evolutions from the 19th century till date. 
 
The chronological display featuring around 150 pieces, has travelled through London, Paris, Dubai, Shanghai and Berlin before finally reaching New York.
 
On show are pieces ranging from the 19th century to present day lingerie collections of bras, corsets, panties, nighties and girdles in materials like silk, nylon, chicken, cotton, etc and with embellishments like laces. 
 
The visitors get a chance to see lean figures of late 1910s and early 1920s when several French women paved their way into the workforce in the background of World War I.
 
Also on display are, the ‘trans-historical striptease’ that formed a base for evolution of female silhouette. 
 
Present-day pieces include more colourful pieces in comfortable material and meeting various needs like those particularly meant for sports or outdoor ventures, those meant for heavy bodies, and for people who have undergone cosmetic surgeries, etc.
 
The expo also attempts to present the social and historical chronology of French lingerie through a display of moving images and videos. These videos explain the style evolution from shapewear and molded laces to present day lingerie embodied with lightness and comfort and more addition of colours achieved through technical innovations.
 
The brands and designers featuring at the show include Chantelle, Implicite, Lou, Passionata, Aubade, Empreinte, Barbara, Lise Charmel, Maison Lejaby, Princesse tam tam and Simne Perele, all of who have contributed from their past collections.
