Shilpa's 'Suriyothai' pays stylish tribute to women at LFW

It was an imaginative, daring collection that offered several stylish options to women who want to make a firm personal style statement.

Creating bridal wear of the unconventional kind, Shilpa used fragile fabrics like tulle, as well as crepe, embellished them with embroidery and stone work inspired by Thai jewellery, which had large accents of gold with precious and semi-precious stones.

While bridal wear has been inspired in the past by African, Greek, Tribal and Roman forms; Shilpa brought to the forefront for the first time, the delicate beauty of Thai ensembles and inspirations. Sophisticated cuts and clean structures were part of the trousseau wear line, which Shilpa offered to brides.

Concept saris in flame red, pale green or sun yellow with very interesting blouses had that distinct Thai influences for the shoulders or necklines. Anarkali kurtas, luxuriously embellished gowns with ornate shoulder emphasis at times were worn with dhoti salwars that made dramatic entries on the catwalk.

Embroidered jackets with shimmering inner, worn with cropped harem pants, a gold bodice for a flared mini and a poncho with a fluid lehenga gave a contemporary look to traditional bridal wear.

Closing the show was designer, Shilpa Reddy mysteriously masked as she glided down the ramp in a sensuous red and gold creation to end her collection called “Suriyothai”.

For a look that has all the fashionable style directions that will thrill New Age brides for the coming season, Shilpa Reddy’s “Suriyothai” collection had the perfect options.
