The Spanish capital of Madrid is all set to once again host the bi-annual fashion soiree Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at the Feria de Madrid (Madrid Fair 2013). Organized by IFEMA, the event in its 58th edition is scheduled to take place from September 13 to 17, 2013.

The five-day event would feature collections of around 44 designers and labels. The catwalk shows will be accompanied by the creations of 20 young talents within the Samsung EGO Showroom- the event’s space for emerging talents in fashion, offering direct sale to visitors.

Juan Vidal, who participated in Samsung EGO in September 2008, would also be a part of the main event in the fashion week this year showcasing his collection ‘Marguerite’.

Argentine designer Roberto Torretta will showcase his Spring/Summer 2014 collection which features pieces like Riviera trousers, sophisticated tops, short jackets, silhouette, knee skirts with staggered-cuts and wraparound formats and colours like oxblood red, shades of blue, chartreuse green, lollypop pink, buttercup yellow, terracotta brown, parchment, silver and black.

Galician designer Roberto Verino would try to highlight the sensuality and elegance of the Latin woman in his collection ‘Carmen’ which features pieces like masculine tailored suits with impeccable cuts, drainpipe trousers, skirts, trench-coat, short or long dresses having asymmetrical necklines highlighting animal prints and floral designs in hues like black, white, camel, red, blue, yellow, and fuchsia. The fabric used in the collection is wool, super-fine cotton, crepe and satin silk, etc.

Spanish designer Juan Duyos in his collection ‘Las Veraneantes’ would bring fluid and longitudinal silhouettes evoking perpetual summer in shades like jade, greyish blue, lime, aquamarine, turquoise, stone, emerald, lilac, celadon green and fabrics like satin-like organza and crepe.

The ‘Retro-Futuro’ collection by Victorio & Lucchino, based on the theme of navigating between the past and future would include pieces made from fabrics like organza, satin and tulle in colors like off-white, yellow, beige, sky blue, pink, salmon and black.

Barcelona born designer Teresa Helbig’s line ‘Inspiration’ is inspired by the 1970’s hedonism crochet-work incorporated in pieces like Tuxedo jackets, shorts and mini-dresses mainly in silk georgette material and golden and white hues.

‘Nude on the Moon’, the collection by Barcelonan designer Andrés Sarda offers a retro feel, a bucolic touch and a glimpse of the future in the lingerie and swimwear collections. The swimwear materials feature jacquard, Vichy checks, prints, laminated lace and touches of bronze and silver, while the lingerie line features silk, lace and embroidery. The color palette ranges from bright and vivid orange, blue and green to mild make-up shades, yellow and white.

This year Peru has been invited as a guest country, and hence three Peruvian designers - Meche Correa, Sitka Semsch and Jessica Butrich would also be showcasing their creative talent at the fashion show.
