Teddy Eriana theme inspired by journey of life at JFW

Batik is more than just a fabric. Batik can imply a lot of philosophical meanings. Teddy R. Eriana, the designer behind the label d’kinnara, processed batik in such a way and translated it into a dashing collection themed “The Rhythm of Revival”. The theme was inspired by a journey of life.

There were the periods of downfall, self-acceptance, and victory resulted from the struggle. A fashion show showcasing Eriana’s collection was held at the biggest event in the fashion world, Jakarta Fashion Week 2014, on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. The show then became the first runway debut for him.

The first sequence brought up the theme Tides. The tides depicted the ups and downs in life. Everything was as abstract as the colors and tones of the 8 casual outfits that were presented including midi dresses, cardigans, women boleros, and men long-sleeve and short-sleeve shirts. The collection was dominated by dark blue, purple, scarlet, and orange.

The second sequence came up with the theme Beauty in Disguise. When the storms of life began to subside, we were able to see the hidden beauty. The philosophy was interpreted into dazzling cocktail dresses.

Flower and plant motifs in vibrant colors looked dominant. Some of them appeared with an additional see-through ornament on shoulder giving a sweet, yet dynamic impression.
