The second edition of the Latin American Strategy Forum Fashion and Business, held in the Colombian city of Bogota, explored the key aspects of strategies that a company operating in the fashion sector must implement to improve competitiveness.

Participants at the second edition of the business and fashion forum, organized by the Colombian Institute for Exports and Fashion (INEXMODA, discussed the key strategies to be implemented by companies, especially in the segments of consumer and business center, distribution, branding and retail, in order to increase their competitiveness.

At the forum, Camilo Hererra, president of the Fashion Observatory INEXMODA-Raddar, said there has been a fundamental change in the structure of consumer shopping with respect to fashion clothing and therefore the brands must strive to understand their consumers.

Emphasizing that consumers are looking for brands having characteristics that make them unique, Maria Carmago, director of planning at McCann Erickson Colombia said brand building in the fashion industry has the challenge and responsibility to keep changing season after season, as the market demands that the product is reinvented in every collection.

The second edition of Strategy Forum was focused 100 percent on the reality of the sector and practical conclusions that will allow employers to take action in their companies based on lessons learned. The forum also had a space dedicated to networking, where attendees had the opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs belonging to the Colombian Fashion System to generate possible partnerships.

Carlos Eduardo Botero Hoyos, president of INEXMODA, said the fashion industry has a big challenge to rethink and train to compete in the global markets and the forum was aimed to provide a roadmap to the industry to not only compete but also excel in highly competitive markets.

The second edition of the forum also served as a preamble for the 30th World Fashion Convention of the International Apparel Federation (IAF), scheduled to be held in 2014, in Colombia.
