Ecuadoran Ministry organizes first Cuenca fashion show

The Minister of Industry and Productivity (MIPRO) of the South American country of Ecuador organized the first ever fashion show in the city of Cuenca located in the province of Azuay, titled ‘Cuenca Fashion 2013’, aiming to showcase the latest collections of local fashion designers of the province.

According to a statement issued by MIPRO, the aim of the event was to provide a platform for local designers of the Azuay province to showcase their creativity, innovation and talent with an intention to provide support to the fashion industry in the province to become real center of development.

Organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Small Industries of Azuay (CAPIA), the fashion show displayed various collections from 13 Ecuadoran designers including Estephanie Ruiz, Gustavo Moscoso, Luis Tipan, Carolina Meneses and Pablo Ampuero.

The show opened with designer Gustavo Moscoso who presented his ‘Fall-Winter 2014’ collection of shirts and denim for men in the shades of green, orange, red, black and white, followed by designer Estephanie Ruiz who showcased her creations titled ‘Dynamic’ which included clothing made from smooth silk in bright colors and prints.

Designer Luis Tipan, displayed a collection of anatomical dresses which were showcased on the runway by the finalists of Miss Ecuador 2013. The fashion show closed with the collection of Silvia Zeas titled ‘Tisca’ which included clothing inspired by ancient techniques of textile processes.

Textile and apparel manufacturers from the province also showcased various products via different stalls at the convention center where the fashion show was held. Nearly 25,000 visitors including designers and manufactures of textile and apparel attended the event.
