Isabel Toledo designs limited-edition line for Lane Bryant

Isabel Toledo, the New York-based designer of Cuban-American descent, has joined forces with the popular American plus-size women’s fashion chain Lane Bryant to design an exclusive collection for the curvy ladies.

Created in collaboration with the 52-year-old designer’s famous fashion illustrator husband Ruben Toledo, the newly launched limited-edition line is replete with watercolour floral prints and feminine fabrics.

Available in sizes ranging from 14 to 28, the collection includes sophisticated lace dresses, printed sheaths, flirty skirts, elegant evening coats, T-shirts and embellished jackets and boleros in military green, orange, black and white shades.

While speaking about the collection, Toledo said, “full of wonderful, quiet details that women will find special and highly wearable. You can dress them up or down depending on your personal style.”

“I want the guest of Lane Bryant to mix my capsule collection with the rest of her Lane Bryant wardrobe to create her individual looks. That is modern American style at its best!” added the designer.

Started in 1904, Lane Bryant operates through a network of more than 812 stores in nearly 46 U.S. states.

An alumnus of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Toledo’s first claim to fame was the beautiful lemongrass ensemble worn by the US First Lady Michelle Obama at President Obama’s first inauguration in 2008.
