Over 70 designers showcase at Seoul Fashion Week

A talented mix of about 57 seasoned designers and nearly 18 fresh up and coming talents showcased their latest Fall/Winter 2014 collections at the just held largest South Korean mainstream fashion event Seoul Fashion Week.

The six-day-long soiree showcased around 13 men’s and 45 women’s catwalk collections by famous names like Lie Sang Bong, Ji Choon Hee, Park Yoon Soo, Kim Seo Ryong, and Steve J & Yoni P.

Home-grown brand Munsoo Kwon took inspiration from the iconic The Walk to Paradise Garden image shot by the late legendary American photojournalist W. Eugene Smith for its latest menswear creations.

Made from brushed twill, wool and alpaca, the comfortable vintage-style line included oversized tartan plaid pieces, printed varsity jackets with biker detailing, contrast-knit cardigans and crisp three-button blazers.

Fashion label Mag and Logan, from designer duo River Lee Na Young and Gangmin Joe Mag, featured a very romantic womenswear collection infused with hints of modern menswear styles.

Made using soft cushy materials like cashmere, alpaca, wool, silk and leather, the feminine pieces were based on hues of black, white, gray, deep and light hazelnut brown, rich turquoise and dark peach.

Other than the style-studded runways, the event also hosted the Seoul Fashion Fair which exhibited designs from several fashion companies for the visiting domestic and overseas buyers.

Held twice a year since 1997, the Seoul Metropolitan Government organized event presents both spring-summer and fall-winter designs every year in March and October.
