Twenty Peruvian designers showcase at 17th Peru Moda

Exquisite arrays of ready-to-wear and haute couture creations, designed by more than 20 Peruvian designers, were showcased at the just wrapped up 17th edition of the fashion and textile fair Peru Moda 2014.

Peruvian designer Jose Miguel Valdivia displayed an exclusive alpaca wool crafted colourful autumn/winter collection, created in collaboration with the textile artisans of the Puno Region, located on the shore of Lake Titicaca, at the event.

Designer Aria Khan chose to showcase a textured range, replete with fur and parrot feathers, whereas Urban HMO’s designer Harumi Momota opted for a high-fashion womenswear line, made from Peruvian alpaca and pima cotton fibres, at the soiree.

Fashion label Elfer Castro used a lot of native produced cotton in its third Peru Moda catwalk collection, based in neutral tones, created in partnership with weavers from Puno, Cuzco and Huancayo regions.

The internationally-acclaimed Spanish designer Custo Barcelona returned to the Peruvian catwalk after a span of two years. The talented design veteran, who also was the guest designer at the three-day-long fair, featured his new Fall Winter 2014-2015 range on the final day. Incorporated with bohemian chic vibes, the textured and graphic print adorned coats, dresses and two-piece outfits were based in a palette of black, gray and beige shades.

Attended by buyers and industry professionals from nearly 53 countries, the event was organized by the export and tourism promotion board of Peru (PROMPERU), in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Association of Exporters (ADEX), the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the National Society of Industries, Trade Society of Peru and the Peruvian Institute of Crafts.
