After making the announcement in October, 2013, the internationally famous Côte d’Ivoire soccer player Didier Drogba is finally going to unveil his much awaited clothing line with the male fashion brand HOM.

Designed by the talented Ivorian fashion designer Elie Kuame, the 18-piece range, which includes men’s swimwear, innerwear and T-shirts, is scheduled to be launched on May 1, 2014.

Based in shades of blue, orange and turquoise as well as African-inspired multicoloured accents, the swimwear line features polyester boxer shorts with contrasting strips on the sides.

Made using combed cotton and spandex materials, the innerwear range features six boxer shorts and three briefs attached with black microfiber waistbands.

The T-shirt collection offers two short-sleeved round neck T-shirts in black and white and a colourful singlet.

Part of the proceedings from the sale of the yet-to-be-released range will benefit the charitable organisation Drogba Foundation, which works exclusively for Côte d’Ivoire’s health infrastructure and education development.

“By producing my own line of underwear I’m able to achieve two goals: to design a fashionable men’s underwear range, and to create a product that will directly support my charitable foundation – to aid in healthcare and education in the Ivory Coast,” Didier Drogba said in a statement.

Managing Director of HOM, Regine Weimar, said: “We are thrilled to be able to partner with Didier Drogba, to create not only an exceptionally creative product, but also create a product that will have a positive social impact. The collaboration will directly support the Didier Drogba Foundation and the important work they do in the region.”

Part of the German lingerie maker Triumph International, HOM was founded in the city of Marseille, France, in the year 1968.
