Over 70 fashion designers to show at Nepal Fashion Week

More than 70 fashion designers will showcase their latest creations at the sixth edition of TGIF Nepal Fashion Week. Beginning today and scheduled to run till April 26, 2014, the event will serve as a promotional platform for young up and coming designers and design students from IEC College of Art & Fashion.

Well-known Nepalese talents like Tenzing Tseten Bhutia, Sama Banu, Sushma Singh, Subexya Bhadel, Anu Shrestha and Mukta Shresth will feature their latest apparel lines inspired from punk, grunge and summer trends.

Emerging fashion sensation Rajesh Nepal will showcase his Ying Yang-inspired range Dark shadow. Based in monochromatic tones of black and white, the patchwork detailed formal wear collection includes knee-length body fitting cotton dresses.

The talented design trio Kiran Bhetwal, Madhu Maya Shrestha and Tshamta Rai have drawn inspiration from underwater for their Blue Rosa range which includes multi-layered lycra and tissue dresses in shades of royal blue, greenish blue and skin colour.

Subexya Bhadel’s Uptown Girl collection is inspired from the Hollywood divas like Audrey Hepburn and Katharine Hepburn. Using timeless silhouettes, the affordable line will feature flared dresses and pencil skirts.

Designer Shama Banu’s glamorous evening gown heavy range Red Revolution is made using satin, net and lycra materials. Suitable for women up to 35 years of age, the red and golden shaded floor seeping numbers come with half as well as full sleeves.

Oodni Boutique’s designer Khusboo Dangol has created a wedding collection decorated with mirror work. Titled as Mirror Mirror, the range will highlight both ethnic and fairy tale gowns made from a variety of fabrics and patterns.

The four-day-long invite-only event will be live streamed through RVL Radio around the globe.
