Celebrities dazzle in designerwear at Met Gala 2014

After last year’s Punk theme, the just concluded New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Met Gala 2014 was all about old school fashion with celebrities sporting intricately detailed luxuriant outfits from some of the leading names of the global industry.

The event saw American singing sensation Beyonce in a low-cut beaded Givenchy couture ensemble with billowing sleeves and sheer skirt teamed up with a matching veiled headpiece.

Barbadian recording artist Rihanna opted for a very demure look, designed by the famous English fashion designer Stella McCartney. The 26-year-old sported a white full sleeve open back cropped top with an embellished neckline as well as a sweeping puckered skirt.

Popular American television and social media personality Kim Kardashian showcased her stylish self in a structured midnight blue gown from the house of Lanvin. The Parisian high-fashion label’s outfit featured a strapless belted top and a long thigh-high slit skirt.

English fashion designer and businesswoman Victoria Beckham turned up at the event in a self-designed all white ensemble. The elegant gown included a zippered floor sweeping skirt and a strapless top.

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker cut a graceful picture at the celebratory evening by opting for a classy Oscar de la Renta number, comprised of a black corset style bodice and a flowing voluminous white and black check skirt.

Celebrated with the theme of White Tie and Decorations, the annual gala, also called as Costume Institute Ball, honoured the British-born American couturier Charles James and the long-time Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Hosted by Vogue, Met Gala is considered to be the fashion world’s best red carpet event which sees a range of A-list celebrities dressed in fineries designed by the world’s best fashion designers.
