Mercedes Benz FW San José shows local & foreign talents

The just wrapped up second edition of Costa Rican fashion fair Mercedes Benz Fashion Week San José showcased an array of avant-garde Autumn-Winter designs from both local and foreign talents.

Costa Rican fashion designer Michell Matheu featured a heady mix of European and Latin style sensibilities in her catwalk presentation, which included high-waisted pants, rhinestone-encrusted jumpsuits and open back printed dresses in shades of blue, black and red.

Local designer Álvaro Núñez presented an exquisite collection of both clothing and fashion accessories. Crafted from lightweight fabrics and leather, the urbanwear pieces were based in sunset hues of orange, yellow and purple.

Mexican label Julia and Renata, from the Guadalajara-based designer duo with the same names, highlighted an impeccably tailored collection. Replete with asymmetrical cuts and Japanese style obi belts, the line showed drop waist dresses and kimonos in tones of black, gold, beige and soothing pastels.

In addition to the above mentioned names, four home-grown designers such as Diego Alvarez, Daniel Moreira, Ana Gutierrez and Fabrizio Berrocal along with international names like Agua Bendita (Colombia), Daniel Espinosa (Mexico), Ethnic (Colombia), Glaudi by Johanna Hernandez (USA), On Aura Tout Vu (France) and Petra Ptácková (Italy) also showcased their creations at the event.

Apart from the style studded runway shows, highlighting modern ranges of dresses, swimsuits and accessories, the three-day-long annual soiree also included a pop-up-store selling designs right from the catwalk parades.
