Mattel Inc., the American toy manufacturer, has joined hands with three US-based fashion brands, Lord and Taylor, Wildfox and Forever 21, to create three ready-to-wear women’s collections inspired from the company’s forever chic and fashion savvy 11-inch doll Barbie.

Harking back to the 1990s era, the 29-piece range from the Los Angeles fashion chain Forever 21 will feature sportswear, sleepwear, outerwear, and fashion accessories and personal care products. The line is scheduled to hit stores and online on September 5, 2014.

America’s oldest luxury, specialty-retail department store chain Lord and Taylor has created a 1950s style eight-piece sleepwear line, which is slated to be launched on September 14, 2014.

The Los Angeles-based fashion brand Wildfox’s 1980s inspired 12-piece collection is due to be available at high-end retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Planet Blue, Revolve Clothing, Fred Segal, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom from November 15, 2014 onwards.

Founded in 1984, the Californian clothing brand Forever 21 maintains a presence in over 480 locations spread across the United States and the world.

Started in 2007, Wildfox, which is owned by designers Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon, is an American vintage-inspired women’s knitwear brand.

Established in 1826, the New York-based Lord and Taylor operates through a network of around 50 stores in the US.

Reigning in the international toy market for more than five decades, the making of Barbie doll is believed to be inspired from the famous German doll called Bild Lilli.
