Aussie fashion labels like Alex Perry, Sass and Bide, and Ellery, under the banner of Australian retail chain Myer, opened the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane 2014 with their latest Spring/Summer 2015 creations.

Fashion label YB J’AIME, from the Korean-born fashion designer Yeojin Bae, featured a frill and floral print heavy French-inspired collection while designer Gail Elliott’s Little Joe Woman brand stressed on a chic look with an abundance of black lace fabrics.

Fashion talent Wayne Cooper showed an intergalactic-inspired futuristic range with extensively detailed shoulders whereas girl’s clothing label Arthur Galan AG presented a graphic black and white enhanced monochromatic range.

Búl stayed true to the age old ‘less is more’ minimalistic trend with its clean crisp cut black and white outfits while beachwear brand Seafolly chose to showcase an array of practical swimwear looks at the event.

The red-carpet specialist Alex Perry’s pieces included some flirty minis and glamorous ladylike gowns, and Ellery’s new creations included ensembles made from leather, silk satin and organza.

Sass and Bide drew inspiration from the whimsical works of 20th century biologist and artist Ernst Haeckel for its summer line which was adorned with prints, fluid layers, diamond checks, gingham, cocoon shapes and botanical themed embroidery.

Slated to run through August 29th, 2014, the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane 2014, which is running into its ninth year, will feature designs from names like Akira, Ginger & Smart, Lee Mathews and Easton Pearson along with Queensland’s local names including George Wu, Sacha Drake, Tengdahl, Urbbana and Darb Couture.
