The American mass retailer Target Corporation is prepping up to offer a bit of Hollywood flavour with its first ever holiday capsule collection for kids.

For the very first time since its inception, the purveyor has joined forces with a costume designer to create a line based on the forthcoming Sony Pictures’ re-adaptation of the old Hollywood classic 'Annie'.

The company has partnered the 'Annie' costumer Renée Ehrlich Kalfus to co-create a 25-piece limited-edition collection of girl’s apparels and accessories which is slated to hit the Target stores and online on November 16, 2014.

Replete with patchwork, embroidery, pins, buttons and tulle, the mix-and-match range includes the iconic red dress, made famous by the little protagonist in the film, a sequined sleeve khaki jacket and an array of denim pieces.

Stacia Andersen, the senior vice president of Apparel and Accessories, Target said in a statement “Target is excited to bring guests a piece of the ‘Annie’ movie magic, just in time for the holiday season. The collection’s mix-and-match theme inspires girls to express themselves by creating a look all their own, at prices moms and dads will appreciate.”

Also George Leon, the executive vice president and head of consumer marketing, Sony Pictures expressed his excitement by revealing, “We are thrilled to be part of Target’s first collaboration with a costume designer and their first holiday capsule collection for kids. Just like our film, this collection was made with every girl in mind. Girls are going to fall in love with it.”

Founded in 1911, Target Corporation is the second-largest discount retailer in the United States. Apart from its debut design venture with the costumer, the company has earlier collaborated with fashion labels like Proenza Schouler, Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Rodarte and Peter Pilotto.

Renée Ehrlich Kalfus is known for her works in American blockbusters like Friends with Benefits (2011), Chocolat (2000) and What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993).
