The luxury lifestyle brand Tory Burch opened the sixth day of the ongoing Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York with its latest collection inspired from the late 19th century French painter and the paramour of renowned Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, Francoise Gilot.

Made using fancy yarns of cotton, linen, canvas and knits, the range was adorned with jacquards, vibrant African style prints and basket weaves. The standouts were a colour block shirtdress with specks of of red, black, blue and orange, a tree printed cream hued pants adorned with a patch of blue around the waist, a fringed crochet top, a long metallic taupe dress, a crystal encrusted coat, and trousers with colourful vertical stripes.

The American multi-brand specialty retailer J.Crew drew inspiration from the crafts of indigenous Latin American artisans for its new Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Inspired from a recent trip to Ibiza, the brand’s womenswear designer Tom Mora created a melange of interesting colour stories in the recent menswear-style flirty high-glam creations. The major highlights included oversized shirts teamed with gilded sequin pencil skirts, colourful button-downs worn in a casual laid back manner, relaxed shorts and sailor striped T-shirts.

Yesteryear’s silver screen diva Marilyn Monroe played as muse for the international celebrity-favoured British fashion designer Jenny Packham. Paying homage to the all-time favourite glam queen, the London’s Central Saint Martins’ grad infused the signature 1950s and 1960s silhouettes in her creations. Crafted from velvet, textured satin, appliquéd lace and silk chiffon, the range showcased a silver thread embroidered cap-sleeved belted dress in powder blue, a sequined evening jacket, a glittering sheer panelled body-con number, a bright palm print day dress and several red-carpet worthy long sweeping gowns in neon, metallic, red, pastel and brown tones.
