CFDA partners Benjamin Moore to promote colour & design

The American exterior and interior paint producer Benjamin Moore & Co has joined forces with the non-profit trade organization for North American fashion and accessory designers, Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), to promote and celebrate the importance of colour in all aspects of design.
For the very first time since its inception in1962, the organization has teamed up with a home décor brand to spotlight the influences of color, design and entrepreneurship in the country.
The paint company’s Vice President of Color Innovation and Design, Carl Minchew, said in a statement, “Benjamin Moore and the CFDA will work together to celebrate the aesthetic impact and transformative power of color, one of the most important and essential tools of design.”
“There are many synergies between our two worlds and with the help of the CFDA, we will bring together the architectural design and fashion communities to advance our trade and encourage entrepreneurship in this industry,” he further elaborates.
In order to jumpstart the efforts for promoting the inter-dependent relationship between colour and design, the paint producer will honour the California-based fashion designer Trina Turk with its inaugural CFDA Trailblazer Award during the upcoming HUE Awards ceremony, a special event that recognizes the exceptional usage of colour in architectural design.
While commenting on the move, Steven Kolb, the Chief Executive Officer of the CFDA, stated “The creation of the inaugural CFDA Trail Blazer Award is a testament to Benjamin Moore’s continuing support of American Fashion. The CFDA is proud to partner with Benjamin Moore throughout the year to celebrate the use of color in the American Fashion Industry.”
Minchew also echoed the sentiments by saying “Benjamin Moore and CFDA are excited to present this award to Trina Turk to recognize her trailblazing career that crosses over from the world of fashion and design with her colorful and bold designs across women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, menswear, swimwear, residential décor and textiles.”
During the next year, Benjamin Moore and the CFDA will organize various events, programs and collaborations for CFDA members as well as the larger design community.
Founded with the objective to support and nurture the design talents and the overall fashion industry in America, the CFDA’s membership roster includes an impressive number of about 480 US-based womenswear, menswear, jewellery and accessory designers.
