For the first time since its inception, the Parisian fashion history museum Palais Galliera is prepping up to host a retrospective exhibit celebrating the over 125-year-old legacy of the world’s oldest but still active couture house Lanvin.

Aiming to pay homage to the brand’s eponymous founder Jeanne-Marie Lanvin, the event will showcase exquisite haute couture designs created under the guidance of the label’s current artistic director, Alber Elbaz.

Slated to take place sometime between March to August, 2015, the to be featured exhibits will include some iconic pieces conserved by Patrimoine Lanvin as well as ensembles from the museum’s own Lanvin collection.

After debuting as a milliner in 1885, Jeanne Lanvin (1867 – 1946), started her clothing design career with a childrenswear range inspired by her daughter and muse, Marguerite, in 1908. She is considered among one of the greatest French haute couturiers of olden times including Chéruit, Doeuillet, Doucet, Paquin, Poiret, Redfern and Worth.

Founded in 1889, headquartered in Paris, Lanvin is a high-fashion house that specializes in furs, bridalwear, sportswear and menswear clothing. The company operates with a workforce of over 1000 employees. (PB)
