Nearly 40 brands showcase at Belarus Fashion Week

More than 40 Belarusian and foreign brands belonging to Russia, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia, Armenia and UAE featured their latest Spring/Summer 2015 collections at the just wrapped up edition of Belarus Fashion Week.
Olga Barabanschikova, the singer-cum-television presenter-cum-designer, featured a range appropriate for the busy lives of the modern day urban women. Made using exquisite imported fabrics like cotton, silk, jersey and leather from Milan, the Candy Lady line included office suits, cocktail dresses and evening gowns in beige, coral, chocolate, gray and red colours.
Inspired by the culture and folk costumes of Armenia, the Belarusian designer Karina Galstyan created her latest ‘The ?olor of Pomegranate’ collection. Predominantly based on red and white alongside specks of beige, blue and turquoise hues, the range was crafted from silk, cotton, hand-knitted wool and crochet.
Marina Davydova, the designer behind the Davidova label, combined elements of femininity and coquetry in her new catwalk presentation. Enhanced with silhouettes and prints inspired from nature and its dwellers including trees, flowers and fish, the pieces were made from wool, viscose, cotton and silk.
In addition to the runway shows by aforementioned well-known names, the six-day event, which was held in the Belarusian capital city of Minsk, also showed creations from young talents like Tanya Tur who drew inspiration from forest creatures and fairy tales for her IVA line, which showcased several vividly textured, embroidered, colourful woolen sweaters and casual dresses.
Another emerging name Polina Soloveyko opted to showcase a very patriotic themed collection name My Belarus. Made from natural fabrics produced by local manufacturers, the range was based on soft romantic shades of vanilla, apricot, lemon, lavender, mandarin, lime, cream, pastel green and gray-blue. (PB)
