The German bi-annual fashion showcase Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin highlighted newest trends for the upcoming Fall/Winter season from a creative army of young and seasoned designers.

Munich designer Isabell de Hillerin added hints of deconstructive detailing and ruffles to her new runway presentation. The standouts included berry-coloured woolen coats, brown and gray shimmering suits and high-waist pants.

Esmod Berlin grad Thomas Hanisch drew inspiration from Hunger Games’ annual Tributes of Panem series for his new collection. Enhanced with wallpaper prints and warning signal designs, the range, which offered crinoline grilles attached skirts, outfits with disproportionate shoulders and fur jackets, was created in futuristic shapes and silhouettes.

The fashion week debutante Whitetail’s designer of Estonian origin Margit Peura displayed a sustainably produced range made using Peruvian Alpaca fibers. Incorporated with transparent pockets, the collection included black wool dresses, flared jogging pants and classic waistcoats.

Kristina Puljan and Martin Eichler, the duo behind Berlin-based fashion label Vektor, chose a powerful colour palette, comprising shades of magenta, dark slate blue, white and black, to create their designs. Detailed with cutouts in insect structures and innovative belts, the featured pieces were calf-length midi skirts and dresses alongside an array of coats and jackets in varying volumes.

Budapest-based label Used Unused’s talented trio Eszter Füzes, Attila Godena-Juhasz and Andras Toth brought the Hungarian feminine chic right on the German catwalk. The collection showed culottes, classically cut vests and long, narrow trousers.

In addition to the aforementioned designer shows, the HTW Berlin-University of Applied Sciences’ Fashion Design and Clothing Technology students staged a collective catwalk titled Studio30PH at the event. Highlighted under the theme of versatility in sustainable fashion, the pieces were made from un-dyed organic cotton and chunky knits. The showcased ensembles were sweaters, flowing palazzos, jackets with accentuated shoulders, short dress pants, delicate wrap blouses and quilted culottes. (PB)
