Italian costumer Milena Canonero scooped up her fourth Best Costume Designer trophy at the just concluded 87th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
The design veteran, who has earlier won the title in 1975, 1981 and 2006, was honoured for her exemplary creations in the 2014 comedy film The Grand Budapest Hotel.Italian costumer Milena Canonero scooped up her fourth Best Costume Designer trophy at the just concluded 87th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.#
The Turin-born talent’s previous three wins were for movies Barry Lyndon, Chariots of Fire and Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette.
In addition to bagging nine Oscar nominations in her entire career span, the designer has been also recognised with the Career Achievement Award in Film from the Costume Designers Guild in 2001.
She has designed costumes for stage shows, operas and television series including Miami Vice.
The Grand Budapest Hotel is the story of a 1930’s European luxury ski resort concierge, Monsieur Gustave (played by Ralph Fiennes), who runs the five-star establishment with panache and an iron fist. (PB)
