The aim of the CCIP's 6th encounters, which were held on Thursday 29 November in Paris, was to open up paths to give better support to creative industries (design, luxury and fashion), which are highly strategic for Paris and the region of Ile de France but which lack visibility and coherent structures faced with competition from Tokyo and London.

Numerous professionals came to share thoughts with Lyne Cohen-Solal, Deputy Mayor of Paris, Jean-Paul Huchon, President of the Ile de France region, Luc Rousseau, Director General of Enterprise at the Ministry of Economy, and Nicholas Jacquet, Director General of the CCIP.

On the occasion of this symposium, Jean-Paul Huchon announced the creation of a regional design centre, whose vocation will be to circulate the « design approach » amongst suburban small businesses, to accompany young and not so young designers on an international level and to make the public at large more aware of the stakes in design and creation.

In the name of the Minister of Economy Christine Lagarde, Luc Rousseau, Director General of Enterprise stressed that support for design was a government priority and publicly marked the support of his ministry for the fashion and design city, where the Institut Français de la Mode will move to in a few months.

The Docks on the Seine, a site dedicated to the animation and promotion of French creation, to fashion and design, appeared throughout the conference as an asset for the influential nature of Paris and its regions.

Lyne Cohen-Solal declared that it was a matter of a « place that professionals have been awaiting for a long time », one that was destined to become an « international pole » in the fields of fashion, creation and design.

With around two thirds of creators and designers established in Ile-de-France, Paris and its regions are a major asset for the international promotion of French creation and design.
