Spirit of Women Health Network announces the February 5 opening of bidding for the Spirit of Women Celebrity Red Shoe Auction, an online charity auction of celebrity-autographed footwear that will benefit several health organizations, including the National Stroke Association and Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) Coalition.
Shoes up for auction February 5 through February 14 were autographed by celebrities including Alanis Morissette and Felicity Huffman.
"This February, we hope to encourage women to take action for their heart health by dancing and exercising, discussing their health with their physicians, and helping to support women's heart health research and education," said Josh Davis, President, Spirit of Women.
Red shoes are the symbol designed to encourage women to take action for their heart health. The Celebrity Red Shoe Auction is the national cornerstone of "The Red Shoe Initiative", a national health education and action campaign that aims to encourage women on a local level throughout the year to take important steps for their heart health.
The auction precedes Spirit of Women's "Day of Dance for Women's Health", a fun educational event involving dancing and health screenings, which takes place on February 23, 2008 in more than 65 communities across the United States.
Each of the following celebrities has autographed a single shoe of the pairs donated by "Carlos by Carlos Santana" footwear, which will be on display and available for bidding from February 5 through February 14 on eBay by searching
