The most talked about, New York Fashion Week flagged off on Friday and will continue till February 8. This time the show is not just about glory and glamour but about raising a social cause. Actresses and other celebrities walked in flaunting red dresses as a part of the Red Dress Campaign, to alert women about the dangers of heart disease.

A poster was put up by the US Department of Health at the entrance of the annual fashion week saying 'Heart disease doesn't care what you wear. It's the number one killer of women'. Liza Minnelli hummed out one of her favorite tunes, "New York, New York," to open the show at Bryant Park in the heart of Manhattan.

This year's Fashion Week has lured celebrity visitors from the west coast who are promising to offer a wide range from hundreds of houses of fashion. Among them are constant all-American favorites such as Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors and Vera Wang to name a few.
