Continuing in its tradition of innovating work footwear, Wolverine Boots Shoes Apparel and Gear has earned its ninth consecutive Plus Award for excellence in design in the work footwear category. The company will be honored during FFANY, a footwear industry trade show in New York City.
“To win in the work category, it's really a testament to Wolverine's technology, performance, durability and price benefit,” said Greg Dutter, editorial director of Footwear Plus. “Wolverine is the only brand to be completely consistent throughout the run of the Plus Awards. The ability to win year in and year out is impressive.”
Footwear Plus conducted its annual Plus Awards this year, surveying thousands of footwear retailers nationwide for the ninth year in a row and honoring overall design excellence in more than 20 categories.
“Our ongoing challenge is to create innovative product that excites not only the industry, but our valued customers as well,” said Ted Gedra, president of the Wolverine Footwear Group. “Being recognized each year motivates us to continually strive to live up to such wonderful accolades.”
Shown to retailers at the end of 2007 and hitting shelves in early 2008, Wolverine created the Contour Welt, a revolutionary, never-before-seen design setting new standards in comfort and flexibility for work footwear. Designed to deliver flexibility in the forefoot and support in the instep areas, the Wolverine Contour Welt offers the flexibility of a sport shoe with the durability of a traditional work boot.
The boot's contour-stitched arch allows the boot to bend and flex at essential points, preventing the foot from shifting when in-motion. The boot also incorporates a Wolverine MultiShox rubber lug outsole, providing customized all-day comfort. Available in six-inch, eight-inch and Wellington styles, the Wolverine Contour Welt also comes with a 30-day comfort guarantee.
