Varun Bahl's collection was a bunch of wild romantic roses that blossomed in all possible colours and textures on his creations.
He showed a range of clean cut urban ensembles with architectural elements for a global minded customer. Straight lines and geometric panels framed intricate embroideries and surface ornamentation inspired by the rose as the leading theme.
Warm taupes, reds, teals, chocolates and blacks were the dominating colours he suggested for the coming winter season. The designer played with layering effects in slim line skirts through extended backs cut from transparent fabrics embellished with velvety flock prints. Skirts were geometrically cut and simply gathered around the hip through visible drawstrings.
The gathered element was also used for the front neck of short sleeved blouses with wide raglan sleeves. The thematic rose was also interpreted in the form of drapes and oversized fluting. This created a dramatic three-dimensional effect on jackets and dresses.
The menswear range showed velvet pants in combination with structured quilted jacket and winter coats with fake fur attachments and details such as ornamental appliqué work completely done in fur.
The occasion wear had lots of shine added through the usage of sequined material for skirts and shift dresses which gave an almost liquid appeal to the garments.
The collection truly reflected the designer's Indian roots and his sartorial skills through the sophisticated amalgamation of a rich noble colour scheme and fabrics story with characteristic western clean cuts.
