Rina Dhaka brought about a range of dusky coloured elegant ensembles for fall '08. The focus was kept on pleats and other subtle surface techniques. Pleats were either used to shape the dresses or for entire full-length skirts.
Many dresses showed yokes with pleated details. Some upper torsos were braided with broad fabric strips which created an interesting three-dimensional effect in contrast to the plain lower parts.
Other styles came with meticulously smocked panels or refined gathered parts. Silhouettes generally emphasised on a raised waist line which added understated elegance to feminine dresses.
The consequent colour palette included many dusty shades suitable for fall. While the first range concentrated on a washed sage green, the late ranges focused rather on foggy grays and hazy browns.
Apart from light weight fabrics with a free fall, the designer offered warm knitted jackets, cardigans and shrugs with a hairy voluminous feel.
A leading feature which appeared again and again in modified versions was a geometric rhomb which was translated to embroideries, prints and could also be found in the braiding or weaving techniques.
Celebrated for her intricate and carefully managed embellishments, Rina Dhaka did justice to the audience's expectations with her latest collection of serene yet sophisticated styling.
